About FITNESS YOGA

FITNESS YOGA - Our quick guide to what it is, how it works, and what to expect during a class!

Fitness Yoga is a class which combines yoga-inspired postures to improve your strength and flexibility.

Whereas more traditional forms of yoga will include aspects of mental discipline and breathing exercises in addition to movements between sequences of poses, with Fitness Yoga the emphasis is firmly on the physical movement.

A Fitness Yoga class will involve being guided through a flowing sequence of posture changes and holds, with a bias towards specific yoga poses that are intended to increase strength and build muscle.

Being a low impact form of exercise, Fitness Yoga is not particularly strenuous, and so is a safe and effective way to increase your physical activity. However, you don't need to consider this as an isolated form of exercise in its own right; in addition to building muscle, improving flexibility and balance, it can also lead to increased gains from other higher intensity forms of exercise by boosting to your overall strength and endurance levels.
