The Fitness Bank Goes Green

Like everyone at the moment, we're looking at ways in which we can reduce our energy consumption, reduce our carbon footprint and keep bills down!

What innovative ideas do you have to help us, and everyone, reduce energy consumption?

Use the energy created on your cardio machines to power your utilities!

With the exception of one cross trainer and the treadmills, you are being used as a power source. You power the machine console. Sadly that is about as much power as you can consistently generate that way. Think about how dim a bike dynamo light is. Also treadmill are users of power rather than generators of power, which is why we have replaced ours with new efficient models. TFB Team

What about using motion sensor timed lighting in changing rooms?

We looked into this and unfortunately the sensors would cost us in excess of £700 which is more than we could save in 10 years of electricity costs for the lights we could practically fit them too. Such a shame but keep the ideas coming. TFB Team
